Frequently Asked Questions
While many of our students do come with some music education, this is not a requirement.
Most of our students are enrolled in weekly lessons which vary in length from 30-60 minutes.
Yes, students provide their own instruments. We will help you select the best instrument choice for your particular area of study.
Private music instruction is ‘applied instruction,’ which means at each lesson your teacher will evaluate your progress and assign you new work accordingly. On average, our (younger) beginning students practice 15-25 minutes 5 days/week; while our older, more advanced students might practice upwards to 60-90 minutes 5 days/week. The only way to learn an instrument is to spend time with it!
The national average 30 minutes of private instruction is $50; 60 minutes, $90. Our rates are significantly less: $30 for a 30 minute lesson and $55 for a 60 minute lesson. Group instruction is less, depending on the class.
No. In fact, many students take breaks for sports, during the summer months, etc. That being said, it’s best not to take long breaks or frequent breaks simply because the skills you gain will be lost if not used regularly.
